Open Source! Why Not!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why we need openness in education? Because I think there is something unfair here!
David Wiley and Cable Green's article has this sentence, "The cost of copying an online version of that same book (e.g., an ePub file) is about $0.0008. The cost of shipping either the handwritten or printed book is about $5. The cost of distributing an electronic copy of the book over the Internet is approximately $0.0007". If this is true, what happened to the ebook I used to pay so much for? For eBooks, we do not even need to print! Why are they still so expensive! It does not make sense to me! I hope OER can be implemented and spread as soon as possible! So we can avoid the fate of paying for expensive textbooks!
Another thing! In search of better free textbooks, I found a great website. The founding team of this site advocates open source! There are a lot of textbooks they make on this website. They are all free and downloadable!
